The Role of Governor
A school governor is a volunteer who helps to run the school and ensure high standards of education and care for all our children. They work as part of the governing body to support the head teacher in taking the school in the right direction.
Governors are involved in decisions about all aspects of managing the school – such as setting the school’s vision, ethos and long term goals, supporting and appointing staff and setting standards in all areas of learning, behaviour and curriculum content. They provide accountability by overseeing finances and making sure money is well spent and ensuring the upkeep of buildings and the educational environment. Together with the head teacher they are responsible for safeguarding the children.
The most important qualities for being a governor are enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in education. If you are interested in becoming a governor in the future, please let us know.
