Friday 29th January

Friday 29th January 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope that you all had a good day.

This weekend is the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. You don’t need a garden to join in you can look on your balcony or through the window. It’s really easy to do.

Click on the link here for more information.

Instructions

Pick a time

You can choose any hour between 29 and 31 January. So whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you can still take part.

Tell the RSPB what you see

Count the birds you see in your garden or from your balcony*. Ignore any birds that are still in flight. To avoid double-counting, just record the highest number of each bird species you see at any one time – not a running total.

*This year RSPB advice is to take part in the safety of your own home. This could include a birdwatch from your window if you overlook a green space or courtyard.

Submit your results

Online: You can submit your results online at rspb.org.uk/birdwatch from 29 January until 19 February.

By post: If you’d rather send your results by post, you can download a submission form from the website:

Please post your results before 15 February.

Every count is important so, if you don’t see anything, please still submit your result. Finding out which birds don’t visit your area is as important as understanding those which do!

Below is a picture to help you and your child identify the birds which are most likely to visit at this time of year. You can use this sheet as a tally chart and just put a line every time you see a bird. Children here know all about tally charts and it is an easy way for them to record information.

In nursery today children enjoyed joining in with a Jo Wicks exercise class, working on their special books and thinking of a different ending to the story of the three little pigs. There has also been lots of interest in construction as children design and build houses.

Children in red class learnt a new song.

We have lots of busy children sharing their fun at home on the blog today (See below).

I hope that you all enjoyed Shazna's story on zoom today.

Next week our focus story is The Gingerbread Man.

Have a lovely weekend
