Friday 30th April

Friday 30th April 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

Today was an exciting day for the nursery. The children were able to visit our Children’s House Art Gallery. Art exhibitions are an integral and exciting part of the art-making process and before lockdown the children regularly visited the Tate Modern, The National Gallery, The Portrait Gallery and many others to gain inspiration and have the pleasure of seeing wonderful art, beautifully displayed in an exciting space. As galleries are currently closed we decided to bring the thrill of an exhibition to our top floor.

There is just something so special about seeing your drawing framed, your painting glazed, or your sculpture displayed in a professional manner. The children were amazed to see their work on show for everyone to enjoy.

To set up the exhibition we planned ahead, over the past few weeks children have explored modern art and artists and had the chance to experiment with a range of mediums and techniques, they have explored painting, printing, collage, sculpting with paper and have studied work by many different artists. They discussed their own work with teachers and chose what they would like to see in their gallery.

Our art exhibition really showcases what we get up to in nursery and shines a light on the fantastic opportunities children have to create and the wonderful things they can produce.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the gallery, we are keeping the work on display for a while longer and are happy to arrange a socially distanced visit for you.

In the meantime please do enjoy the video and photographs below,

Finally have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and we will see you all on Tuesday.
