During each session, children have opportunities to lead their own learning and choose what they would like to do.
There are also times when adults will direct learning and choose what they would like children to experience. Supporting children to work and learn together is key: cooperation, resilience, managing emotions, sharing, communicating and problem solving are all important skills when working with others. Children are supported and encouraged to work together in pairs and small groups and this week, children have been making playdough to take home, exploring the water, construction with a purpose and caring for the garden in small groups. Over their time at nursery, children will have many opportunities to experience this in a range of contexts. Seeing their development is incredible. Try to play games at home that involve turn taking and sharing: this will really help your child in school with their learning. ![]() We are thrilled to be back to begin a new term filled with hope and potential. Our returning children have come back with increased confidence and joy. They even look taller! New friendships are being built with confidence and increased independence. What is really noticeable is the children who have transferred from the Red Building (our 2 year olds) have made smooth and positive transitions and their sense of belonging and attachment is striking. As we welcome new families and friends, we remember how important these early days are. We need to get the relationships right: warm and positive to help learning to flourish for the year ahead. Children at Children's House make sustained and strong progress, whatever their starting point, but only if they come to school every day. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time and comes in every day: they will make friends and develop - we can promise you that. Here's to another successful year! |
