Over the next two weeks of term, children are being supported to learn about some of the traditions of Christmas.
We will be focusing on different strands across the nursery: Developing an understanding that some people celebrate Christmas; Handling books as we share fiction and information books about Christmas - from Santa Claus to Christmas Poems, Mrs Christmas and beyond; Developing confidence as we sing Christmas songs with our friends; Developing our mark making as we write letters to Father Christmas and mark make our Christmas calendars; Sustaining concentration as we make salt dough decorations for the tree in school; Following recipes to make salt dough decorations; Developing an understanding of number as we measure out ingredients to make our decorations; Developing awe and wonder as we turn off the big lights and enjoy our Christmas twinkling lights Learning new vocabulary as we learn our songs; Creating our own musical patterns and rhythms as we dance. There is so much joy in our learning. Please remember to join us on Tuesday 17 December - All Ground Floor children come to school in the morning and families join us at 11.15am for singing; Tuesday 17 December - All First Floor children come to school in the afternoon and families join us at 2.30pm for singing; Wednesday 18 December - Red Building Christmas Singing - families join us at 11.20am and 2.50pm; Thursday 19th December - Christmas Parties for all children during your usual session - wear party clothes if you like; Thursday 19 December - Last day for Red Building children Friday 20 December - Main building children come to school 9am-12pm - all children come in the morning and school closes at 12pm.
