Learning About Christmas

11/12/2024

Over the next two weeks of term, children are being supported to learn about some of the traditions of Christmas.
We will be focusing on different strands across the nursery:

Developing an understanding that some people celebrate Christmas;
Handling books as we share fiction and information books about Christmas - from Santa Claus to Christmas Poems, Mrs Christmas and beyond;
Developing confidence as we sing Christmas songs with our friends;
Developing our mark making as we write letters to Father Christmas and mark make our Christmas calendars;
Sustaining concentration as we make salt dough decorations for the tree in school;
Following recipes to make salt dough decorations;
Developing an understanding of number as we measure out ingredients to make our decorations;
Developing awe and wonder as we turn off the big lights and enjoy our Christmas twinkling lights
Learning new vocabulary as we learn our songs;
Creating our own musical patterns and rhythms as we dance.

There is so much joy in our learning.
Please remember to join us on
Tuesday 17 December - All Ground Floor children come to school in the morning and families join us at 11.15am for singing;
Tuesday 17 December - All First Floor children come to school in the afternoon and families join us at 2.30pm for singing;
Wednesday 18 December - Red Building Christmas Singing - families join us at 11.20am and 2.50pm;
