Tuesday 2nd February

Tuesday 2nd February 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

Today let’s make gingerbread at home. Below on the blog you can watch a video of Rina showing you just exactly how it is made. Today in nursery the first floor class also made gingerbread and then took a piece home to share. We hope you enjoyed it.

When you cook with your child try to let them do as much as possible themselves. When we cook in nursery each child has their own bowl and utensils and they measure out their own ingredients. The activity is always about the process of cooking rather than the end product. If something goes wrong that’s how children learn. We discuss what could have happened and what they can do next time. We want children not to be frightened of mistakes. When we take over from children we are sending a powerful message that we think that they are not able to do something and then children become scared to make mistakes.

We love mess and mistakes in nursery as it demonstrates to us that children are trying and learning. What they can’t do today, they will be able to do tomorrow with practice.

Tomorrow Kamran has a live zoom at 1pm you will have all received the link. Do join him for a phonics session.

Have a lovely evening.
