Good afternoon everyone,
Today was an exciting day as some of our youngest children said goodbye to red class and moved into ground floor class. They were very excited to be in “big” nursery and spent the morning exploring and meeting their new friends and teachers. We also welcomed back the last few children, it really is good to see everyone back in nursery again.
We are continuing to enjoy science week, all the children are starting to see themselves as scientists and are really enjoying the activities on offer.
Today they could choose to take part in a colour experiment to observe the colours of the rainbow, make their own ice cream or make slime.
If your child brought their slime home today, please remember this is an activity that must be supervised by grownups. You might be asking why we make slime, other than the sheer fun of learning science, slime is popular for several reasons. Some children find it satisfying to watch slime turn from a solid to a liquid and back again. Squishing it between your fingers can also be a great way to relieve stress and some people just like it because it's gooey and fun to stretch. It’s also a good way to introduce new vocabulary and talk about change.
Children also continued to experiment with the rocket launchers and rockets they made yesterday, today they tried different sized bottles and different sized cones to see which would travel furthest.
Have a lovely evening.
