Wednesday 19th May

Wednesday 19th May 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

There were many interesting activities taking place in nursery today and lots of learning wherever you looked.

Outdoors the rain held off but there were still many puddles to mix powder paint in and to chalk around. Other children learnt about the properties of shapes and then enjoyed a shape hunt around the garden.

This is a fun activity to do with your child when you go out for a walk. Start by choosing one shape and then as you walk look for it in the environment. For example try looking for circles. You will be surprised at how many you will see, car wheels, drain covers, plaques on walls, shapes in fences, door knobs etc. The children were really good at identifying many different shapes as they explored the garden.

Indoors children enjoyed designing and making mini habitats for animals and children on the first floor were busy exploring and comparing seeds.

Looking at seeds together is another fun activity to do at home, compare an apple seed with an avocado stone or an orange pip, try planting a few to see what grows. Children always enjoy planting and growing activities.

In child initiated play children went on a “journey to the seaside” riding the bikes and making a pretend sea and beach.

Children in red class enjoyed sand play in the big builder’s tray.

Have a lovely evening.
