Good afternoon everyone,
Today in nursery the children did many activities that you may like to try at home. In the ground floor classroom children made their own porridge. They enjoyed eating it with a choice of healthy toppings at snack time. You could make porridge at home with your child then add blueberries, banana or whatever topping you like.
Hanan was on the blog on Monday showing how to make porridge and here is a simple recipe:
- 50g porridge oats
- 350ml milk or water, or a mixture of the two
- Greek yogurt, thinned with a little milk and clear honey, to serve
- Fruit of your choice
Put 50g porridge oats in a saucepan, pour in 350ml milk or water and sprinkle in a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time and watching carefully that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
Or you can try this in a microwave. Mix the porridge oats, milk or water and a pinch of salt in a large microwave proof bowl, then microwave on High for 5 minutes, stirring halfway through. Leave to stand for 2 minutes before eating.
To serve, pour into bowls, spoon Greek yogurt, thinned with a little milk, on top and drizzle with honey add berries or slices of banana
The first floor children were busy mapping out the route that Goldilocks took to the Three Bears House and later they enjoyed a scavenger hunt.
A scavenger hunt is great fun to do with children you can enjoy this both indoors and outdoors. Draw or write a list of things for the children to find. Set a timer or call them after a certain time and see how many objects they could find. An indoor scavenger hunt is on the blog below. This is a great opportunity to develop children’s vocabulary as you discuss the items they found.
In red class children acted out the story of Goldilocks and experimented with porridge to see what happens when food colouring is added.
Children in ground floor class are singing for their friends on the blog today. We also have more lovely pictures and videos of our busy children at home.
Have a lovely evening
