About Us

Children’s House Nursery School is a state maintained school at the heart of the local community in Bromley-by-Bow, Tower Hamlets.
We are housed in a listed building and are proud of our heritage; the school has been serving local children for more than a hundred years.
We are committed to providing the highest standards of care and education for every child through meaningful experiences that build on what children, know, understand and can do.
At the heart of our work with children is the close relationships we form with each family. We work in partnership with parents and carers to give children an inspirational start to their school lives.

Sad Announcement

Picture
We are sorry to share the sad news that Karen Lahiff, our former Deputy Headteacher, passed away on Sunday 18th May. She died peacefully at home following a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Karen taught at Children’s House for over 20 years and will be remembered extremely fondly by staff past and present as well as many former pupils and parents. Her commitment to early years education was unfaltering, and her dedication, passion and enthusiasm was an inspiration to teachers, nursery nurses and parents alike.
Karen’s son and daughter both attended Children’s House in the early to mid-1990s and know how special a place it was for their mum.

Children's House Values

Our Values

  • We have a voice
  • We have a choice
  • We share and take turns
  • We show respect to everyone and everything
The Children’s House Values underpin everything we do at our nursery.
They have been created in line with the British Values of Democracy, Individual Liberty, Rule of Law and Respect.
Everyone who comes to our school is expected to support these values.
Our values permeate everything we do: we want our children to refer to them to support each other, independently problem solving and managing their own behaviour.
Children know they will be listened to and their words valued; we want them to speak up for what they believe and feel trusted and safe to do so.
