Early Years Pupil Premium
Please read the information below which gives details of our Early Years Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
What is Early Years Pupil Premium?
Early Years Pupil Premium is a Government fund given to schools for eligible pupils, to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to learn and succeed. Nursery Schools are given £353 for each eligible pupil. The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers.
Children’s House Nursery School is committed to equality of opportunity for all children, regardless of socio-economic background. We want to help all pupils make rapid and sustained progress and achieve as much as possible during their time at the nursery. The pupil premium grant helps us to do this by awarding the school this additional funding which can be used in a variety of ways to ensure that no child is disadvantaged because of economic circumstances.

Accountability

This extra funding allows the school to provide additional staff and resources, bringing learning benefits to eligible pupils as well as all children throughout the school. It is also used to subsidise enrichment activities and school trips.
The Government believes that head teachers and school leaders should decide how to use the Pupil Premium. They are held accountable for the decisions they make through:
- the performance tables which show the performance of disadvantaged pupils compared with their peers
- the Ofsted inspection framework, under which inspectors focus on the attainment of pupil groups, in particular those who attract the Pupil Premium
- the reports for parents that schools now have to publish online
- Each half-term we review the children who are in receipt of pupil premium to ensure that their learning is supported and that they are making rapid progress. We measure the impact of all interventions.
